Pink Hair Dye Raises £3,600 for Breast Cancer Charity

Here is a great story that was sourced from the Londonderry Sentinel in the UK.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the UK is in October and one charitable fanatic managed to raise just over £3,600 for the charity by using hair dye to transform her locks to a bright pink color in order to raise money for a cause she knows all too well about.Sandra Smyth Hair Dye Charity Donation

After being diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2006, Sandra Smyth had to undergo both chemotherapy and radiotherapy in order to battle one of the biggest killers in the UK today. She bravely fought through and has now managed to raise the funds by using hair dye for breast cancer awareness and presented the cheque to Altnagelvin Hospital in Waterside, Londonderry in Northern Ireland, who were said to be “eternally grateful” for her efforts.

Fund-raising for the charity has taken part in many guises and by thousands of women up and down the country in order to raise awareness of a cancer that despite it’s potentially fatal nature, many women (and men, for that matter)  known very little about. Sandra Smyth has declared that she is ecstatic over the response she has had for her simple pink hair dye stunt, as well as the reaction she has received from the consultant surgeon of the hospital.
