Looking to change your hair colour?  Well, if you are, there are several different types of hair colour dye out there, and it’s important that you know the differences in these types of dyes before you go using one.  If you don’t know exactly what you’re getting in to, you may end up with a hair colour that you hate…and can’t get rid of!

First of all, there are temporary hair colour dyes.  These generally wash out after a few weeks, although some will stay longer.  If you’re using a dark hair colour dye on blonde hair, for example, it may take more washes than the instructions say before it comes completely out.  These dyes are generally used by actors, around Halloween, and by those looking for a short-term change.

Permanent hair colour dye, on the other hand, is not going to wash out very easily.  In fact, it’s not going to come out at all!  This type of hair colour can only be removed by bleaching your hair or by waiting for your hair to grow out and then cutting off the dyed part.  Before you apply a permanent hair colour dye, you’re going to want to be certain it’s the colour you want since there’s no going back.  Most people recommend you test the dye on a small part of your hair that can easily be cut off before doing all of your hair.  This way, you’ll see the colour result and you’ll discover if you are allergic to the dye (some people are).
